Peyia (Pass By)
Pegeia is situated on the slopes above Coral Bay on the Akamas Peninsula. It was first settled by Venetians during their Cyprus rule from 1489-1570. The name comes from the Latin “Baia” for bay.

Edro III Shipwreck
The cargo ship EDRO III ran aground in 2011 on its way to Rhodes with plasterboard. Its 9 crew members were rescued. Over 80 meters long and 2.5 tons, the dangerous wreck remains.

Sea Caves (Pass By)
These caves boast spectacular rock formations and were once home to monk seals. Early visitors came to see both the caves and seals.

Agios Georgios Harbour
Excavated in the 1950s, this harbor revealed 6th century basilicas, a bath, and settlement. It was likely a stop for ships between Egypt and Constantinople. Offshore is Holy Island, once part of the mainland with remains from Chalcolitic to Byzantine periods. Its church, catacombs, and marina remain.

Lara Bay Turtle Conservation Station
Akamas is an unspoiled Cyprus coastal area and key Mediterranean sea turtle nesting ground. Loggerhead and endangered green turtles nest at Lara Bay, critical for the green turtle’s regional survival. We’ll explain more about these fascinating creatures. In 1989 Lara Bay became a Protected Area. We’ll swim with care to not disturb turtles and stop at a cafe near Lara Beach for lunch/drinks (not included).

Adonis Baths Waterfalls
Legend says Adonis tended horses and hunted in Akamas forest. The beautiful waterfall is where Adonis and Aphrodite supposedly bore the ancestors of Paphos citizens. We’ll stop for swimming here (entrance fee not included).
